Join us for our First Annual Vesak Celebration, Picnic and Refuge Ceremony!
This Sunday, May 19,2019 we will be celebrating the birth, enlightenment and passing of Buddha.
It will be a Triple Gem service! Come join our Sangha for meditation, chanting, incense offering, and our own KCBC Sangha to celebrate the Buddha and practice the Dharma.
Taking Refuge is an invitation to begin the exploration into the practice of awakening in each and every moment. We take refuge in the mentor of human awareness, in the teachings that help to point the way and the companionship of the practicing community. There are no preliminary requirements to participating in fact some will recite the ancient vows and offer incense for the first time, and others are invited to renew their commitment again and again. No sigh up is required, just show up!
Immediately following the service this Sunday, there will be a potluck picnic - hopefully in the courtyard and grounds of the Pilgrim chapel but if we have rain we will be inside. All are welcome! If you'd like to bring a dish to share please do
Vesak Day is celebrated worldwide by Buddhists in honor of Buddha's birthday, enlightenment and passing. The festivals and activities are colorful and joyful with gifts of flowers, lighting of candles and burning of incense. It's a great time to connect or reconnect with your inner Buddha!
